The federal style architecture of the Aiken house deserved a landscape that was equally as impressive. A generous patio space and outdoor kitchen was designed and installed to create a place to gather and socialize, while serving as a transitional space between the house and expansive lawn beyond. Nautilus Design constructed the patio out of natural cleft bluestone with goshen stone being utilized for the walls and grilling island. One of our favorite materials to work with, goshen stone is quarried in western MA. An expansive border planting surrounds the lawn perimeter, combining a combination of native and non native trees, shrubs and perennials with a hedge of Summer Snowflake Viburnum creating separation between the landscape and the street.
